The easiest ever fudge recipe

Ingredients and a tray of fudge!

Now, I've tried a few fudge recipes in my time and this one is not just the most reliable, it's incredibly easy. No constant stirring, no thermometer, no weighing, just easy. Easy to remember too - just one of each ingredient and cook for one hour.

Unlike most fudge recipies, this one uses evaporated milk instead of condensed milk. That is the key to not needing to stir continuously. However, it does take longer to reach the softball temperature.

Ingredients:
  • 1 bag of sugar (1 kilo)
  • 1 block of butter (250g)
  • One tin of evaporated milk (410g)
  • There aren't any more ingredients

  • Method

Put the ingredients into a big stainless steel saucepan and heat gently, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.

Leave on low heat bubbling gently for 1 hour. No need to stir.

Take the pan off the heat and leave it to cool for 5 minutes.

    Lightly grease a tray (about 12 inches by 7 inches or 300mm x 180mm).

Stir or beat gently with a wooden spoon for about 1 minute or until the mixture starts looking a little granular, then pour into the tray.

Leave it for 2 hours to cool and cut into squares.

Be careful with the hot mixture. It is hotter than boiling water!
